Trade Deadline come and gone
With the deadline come and gone and the playoff picture taking shape, some teams have made some big trades to help there playoff run, while others made some questionable moves. The biggest trade of the day had to be Colorado swapping Dwight Shrute and Kenny McCormick to Calgary for Luka Ulmer and Stan Beckett. This move This move adds a top two defencemen in Shrute with term on his deal and pending UFA after this deason Kenny McCormick who brings a ton of playoff experience and currently has 38 points in 65 games this season. On the other hand Ulmer and Beckett both come with top 9 Forward potential. The St. Louis Blues were another team that were buyers leading up to the deadline adding the likes of top Goal scoring defencemen Vladimir Volchevski, veteran Hugh Jazz, and Peter Tsitsirakis. Since the deal the Blues are 7-2-1 in there last 10 and sit 4th in the Gretzky Conference. The Toronto MapleLeafs were buyers and added goaltending depth Aerik Wedgewood, winger Jeff Foote, and and depth defensemen who brings experience and leadership pending UFA Nico Brooks. The Rangers also were buyers adding Stan Marvel from the Quebec Nordiques in hopes to add some veteran presence and secondary scoring into there line up. In another big trade on deadline day Minnesota added Depth defensive defencemen Jesper Olsson and pending UFA Cameron Stone to there line up to help there playoff aspirations. The Buffalo Sabres acquired a package of picks and prospects in this deal headlined by a y13 ATL First rounf pick. With less then 15 games left in the regular season, we'll see which deadline moves paid off, and which were just smoke and mirrors.
